As a Community Shop Manager for St Giles Hospice you will lead a team of paid staff and volunteers. You’ll be empowered to make decisions locally whilst working within a supportive framework. You’ll work within and for your local community ensuring that engagement and support is understood and promoted.

You’ll have great commercial skills, an understanding of why customer service is key and want to be part of a successful team. Ideally you’ll have previous retail management experience, be able to demonstrate strong leadership and have the ability to work with and motivate any team. 

Reporting into a Regional Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that your store runs efficiently and delivers a positive financial contribution to the Hospice. You’ll also have the support of a Regional Supervisor, available to provide encouragement and development of best practice.

The estate includes 22 shops and e-commerce operation with a turnover of approx. £3million which supports the overall income generation strategy.

Community Arts by ZK (CAZK) is an award-winning community interest company based in Pendle. Principle Tasks and Key Responsibilities:

• Working closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and the team, you will lead on developing and managing creative art programmes, projects, activities, and events.

• Maintain and develop relationships among key partner organisations,local businesses, creatives, and host steering group meetings to develop new ideas and plans to progress and enhance the organisation, building communication and providing regular feedback. 

• Work with the CEO to develop annual organisational and project budgets, and manage ongoing programme budgets to ensure they are delivered as agreed within set budgets and timescales. 

• Research, implement and monitor programme and project plans, liaising with collaborators, partners, the community and artists. 

• Produce reports to ensure that relevant stakeholders are fully and consistently informed and updated about the progress of creative projects. 

• Determine and monitor the human and physical resources needed for the programmes/projects and ensure that they are available at the appropriate time. 

• Ensure effective marketing and publicity for programmes and projects. 

• Day to day project and personnel management, including staff and artists’ contracts, and project risk assessments. 

• Attend events, projects, and meetings on behalf of Community Arts by ZK, where appropriate. 

• Prepare and submit prompt reports, planning documents and information required by funders/clients with regards to service level agreements and any other contractual/grant funded obligations. 

• Ensure appropriate systems are in place for monitoring information required by funders and to ensure that all contracted staff are fully briefed as to their responsibilities in respect of monitoring information. 

• Maintain and update internal databases in order that data integrity is maintained and information is consistent across the data platforms. 

• Monitor and assess available funding opportunities, and work alongside the CEOto submit funding applications and tender submissions. 

• Develop new partnerships across Lancashire and Pendle to maximise existing and potential funding/tender opportunities

• General Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the update of Community Arts by ZK policies and procedures in line with best practice.

The Ripple Pond is a charity that supports adult family members of physically and/or psychologically injured British Armed Forces personnel and veterans. Many of these individuals and family members are hard to reach and often isolated.

Your role will be to ensure that more and more of the military community, professionals and other interested parties know who we are and how to access our support.

You will also help to organise our exciting programme of online talks and activities for our Members (service-users) to help ensure they are well-informed, involved and feel part of a supportive community. Making sure that Members are always involved in generating ideas and production.

We are looking for someone who is dynamic and determined, but you also need to be invested in our mission as a charity and care about people.

This role is about;

• working with a wide range of groups and individuals to help raise awareness of the charity and to create opportunities to identify new Members (service users);

• being responsible for networking, identifying, and establishing partnerships with key individuals and organisations and nurturing existing relationships;

• developing and rolling out strategies to engage with hard-to-reach and isolated military carers and families;

• coordinating a range of activities (mainly online) to deliver information to Members, potential Members, referrers, and other stakeholders. These will include online talks from staff, Members and other “subject matter experts”; and

• helping to ensure the charity continues to understand the developing needs of its Members.

Although the role is home-based, you will not be working in isolation; you will be supported by the managers and workforce.

All our staff are home-based, and we maintain a strong caring culture of teamwork, mutual support and promoting wellbeing at work.

You may be exposed to traumatic narratives from our Membership, for many this is a reality in their lives. We do provide an extensive framework of clinical and managerial support but you do need to be an emotionally and psychologically resilient individual.

Communities Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic project manager with experience of working in a hospitality or catering environment. The role will involve responsibility for overseeing the day to day running of the Garden Community Café, human resource management, food hygiene practices, health, and safety, ensuring that the café adheres to all of its legal responsibilities. Working on a vision for the Café in consultation with the CEO and trustees.

The café is a registered charity and so as part of our team you will be supporting the charity’s overall mission to enable the whole community to make the community whole. Community Advice Works is an established community charity based in New Cross in South
East London. As the only charity in the London Borough of Lewisham offering a general
drop-in advice service, we are a critical source of support to vulnerable residents. We have
built a strong reputation within the Borough for providing high quality, independent, person-
centred welfare and housing advice. The organisation employs several part-time staff and
has a team of volunteers. In addition to providing advice we currently deliver a domestic
violence project at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital.

Like many charities in the advice sector, CAW is going through a process of change. We are
looking for an experienced and community-driven individual with a strong set of managerial
and interpersonal skills, preferably with a background in advice work, to maintain the strong
structures and reputation for excellence that we have developed.

As service manager, you will work with our friendly staff and trustee team to deliver our vital

Key duties

• Staff and volunteer management

A significant part of your role will be to respond to Helpline enquiries, either by phone or email. You will be the first point of contact.  Training will be given on this.

You will also handle liaising and looking after our members and processing new membership applications.

You’ll work closely with the Community Engagement Manager on any events. The yearly ‘Scoliosis Awareness Day’ event, along with the Zorab Symposium which takes place every three years and any patient meetings that take place.

You will need to be able to travel to the office at least one day a week.  Days worked can be agreed to suit the successful candidate.

You will need database experience. We use E Tapestry, but Raisers Edge or other charity database experience is relevant.

There is scope to take greater responsibility across all areas of the job description depending on your experience and personal development ambitions and there may be scope for increased hours as the role progresses.

Community Fundraising Manager

The Mencap Community and Events Team has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and passionate fundraiser,  dedicated to raising as much funds as possible to help make the UK the best place to live for people with a learning disability to join our team as Senior Community Fundraising Manager covering England and Wales.

Covering the England and Wales the Community Fundraising Manager will be responsible for managing various income streams across the Community portfolio working closely with the wider team.

Within this role, you will achieve agreed fundraising targets through effective management, support and cultivation of both existing and new regional supporters including: individuals, groups, associations, local corporates and schools whilst maximising the current portfolio of Mencap owned products. You will research, identify and develop new community fundraising opportunities, areas of potential support and build a robust pipeline for restricted grants and corporate partners.

The role is home based. There will be travel around the areas that the role covers.

This position is a permanent, full-time role to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday. The nature of community fundraising is that there will be evening and weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be given.

Key skills and requirements (essential):

· The ability to develop, implement and monitor strategic plans, present budgets and interpret financial information

· The ability to research, assess and initiate new opportunities within the context of an overall plan

· Able to recruit, develop and train, motivate and manage individuals and teams of Volunteers to give their very best

· Able to use interpersonal skills in order to engage effectively with others, understand what motivates them and respond appropriately

· Written communication skills and a high level of numeracy to be able to produce business plans, monthly reviews, press releases, letters, presentations and other similar documents

· Excellent verbal communication skills, to be able to deliver presentations and give local media interviews

· Able to work as part of a team, to see and understand the national picture and to contribute effectively to team plans and goals

· IT literate – use of word-processing, spreadsheets PowerPoint and databases

· Experience of working in community fundraising and delivering or exceeding income targets

Main Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver a new Partners development strategy to secure significant gifts from individuals.

• Identify, cultivate and secure relationships to deliver maximum long-term impact and income through effective personal relationship management of major Partners.

• Develop strong and enduring relationships with current and potential major Partners.

• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to create compelling, relevant and tailored funding proposals.

• Work with the Head of International Programme to design and develop a targeted contact strategy.

• Support the development of a range of events/campaigns with the wider UKIM teams to provide opportunities.

• Develop and maintain adequate major Partners records.

• Market UKIM Relief’s projects and products to new and existing partners whilst maintaining partner loyalty through special partner services. 

• Work efficiently towards the continuous enlargement of UKIM Relief’s partner database.

• Assist in coordinating in Partner Services to ensure data integrity, quality control, and database requirements.

• Ensure that all partner information and reports are of the highest quality and are submitted (if required) in a timely fashion.

• To be up-to-date with all new projects, proposals and potential appeals. 

• Ensure that all partners receive a courteous, helpful and professional service at all times.

• Effectively attract and retain partners by liaising with them on a daily basis. 

• Accurately record, process and keep all enquires and financial transactions confidential. 

• Maintain and assist the Manager to develop an effective administrative systems in order to achieve maximum efficiency across the department.

• To complement the work of the Communications team in producing different types of media to project the work of UKIM Relief to long-terms partners. 

• Ensure duties are performed in line with the Data Protection Act, Confidentiality Regulations, Government legislation and UKIM Relief Policies.

• Ensure information flow is managed and easily accessible to allow the team to provide all partners with any personal information requested.

• Ensure the processing of daily mail, data entry and major partner gift acknowledgements are done efficiently.

• Comply with all policies, procedures, legal and regulatory requirements.

• Hold a valid passport and be willing and able to travel extensively, at short notice and under conditions of physical hardship.

Person Specification:

• Experience of major partner fundraising.

• Strong knowledge of, and successful track record in, delivering significant new income through personal approaches to major partner prospects.

• Proven track record of personally soliciting high value gifts from major partners and of developing long-term relationships.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate confidently with senior colleagues, stakeholders and partners

• A good understanding of brand management, marketing and PR.
